How does MicroSave impart trainings to MFIs?
This paper describes the MicroSave’s training philosophy and strategy. The paper states that MicroSave’s training approach is distinguished by practice-based training philosophy and strategy which involves:
- Rigorous, field-based research and testing for development of toolkits;
- Transfer of knowledge, skills and attitudes through hands-on, practical application of the tools.
The paper further states that MicroSave’s training strategies ensure that training is translated into relevant change in institutional performance as:
- Classroom training is always followed by practical field work;
- Each toolkit includes PowerPoint presentations, handouts and exercises needed, and a complete Trainer’s Guide to assists the facilitator in running the training.
- The toolkits are designed to transfer the skills needed for product development/refinement and strategic marketing, not to promote a specific service delivery methodology.
The paper concludes that microfinance institutions (MFIs) can participate in MicroSave’s trainings through:
- Certified Service Providers (CSP).
- Senior Service Provider (SSP) Program: Designed for training and certifying more professionals in the MicroSave toolkits.
- Young Executives Development Program: Designed to train and certify future microfinance leaders oriented towards a market-led approach to financial service delivery.
