How is Kredits software useful for microfinance institutions?
This document presents the review of the Kredits (version 9.6) software. The review was sponsored by CGAP.
The document provides some basic facts about the software. These include:
- Size: Small microfinance institutions (MFIs) (up to 5,000 customers); medium MFIs (up to 25,000 customers); medium-large (up to 50,000 customers) with the new SQL server database.
- Budget: Intermediate, starting at USD 10,000 per site but with a low TCO (total cost of ownership) and no additional cost per workstation.
- IT expertise requirement: No expertise required, except a good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to benefit from the integration.
- Functionality: Loan tracking system, savings module, cash management, but no accounting (interfaces with the main accounting packages).
It then provides some of pros and cons of the software:
- Pros:
- One of the very few packages benefiting from MS Access’ ease-of-use, with the usual security holes plugged;
- Reliable and user-friendly interface with strong loan management.
- Cons:
- Performance decreases with database size;
- High entry price for small MFIs with one workstation.
Finally, the document provides different criteria on which Kredits has been rated. These include:
- Functionality;
- Ease of use;
- Management reporting;
- Technical capabilities.
