Mongolia: Index-based livestock insurance project report

This is a project information document for the index-based livestock insurance program in Mongolia, which was designed in the context of a World Bank lending operation with the Government of Mongolia.

The document focuses on the concept of index-based insurance, which it defines as:

• A combination of self-insurance, market-based insurance and social insurance.

It discusses two products in particular:

• Base insurance product (a commercial risk product);
• Disaster response product (a social safety net product).

The document also highlights the following program components:
